New Mexico College Access Council

The New Mexico College Access Council (NMCAC) is a volunteer member organization comprised of admission/recruitment professionals who work together to help educate and assist students in achieving their higher educational goals. The organization has adopted and agree to abide by the National Associate for College Admission Counseling’s (NACAC) Statement of Principles of Good Practice.

Mission

The mission of the New Mexico College Access Council is to provide a platform in order to ease access to higher educational opportunities, resources, and services. As a state-wide higher education network, we will support and facilitate the planning for and transition to higher education for the diverse students across New Mexico regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual or religious orientation, socio-economic status, immigration status, or geographic limitations.

Purpose

The purpose of NMCAC as a program is to:

  1. To foster and encourage cooperation between collegiate institutions and secondary schools within the state of New Mexico;
  2. To promote ethical standards of conduct in the relationships of personnel in both collegiate institutions and secondary schools;
  3. To provide assistance in the development and maintenance of a continuous educational guidance programs from high school through post-secondary education;
  4. To serve as the collection, promotion and dissemination agency for information pertinent to New Mexico colleges, universities, and high schools (such as requirements for collegiate admission, vocational and career information, scholarships and financial aid) and to facilitate the transition of students from high schools or 2 year colleges to 4 year institutions; to identify other concerns common to both high schools and higher education institutions.
